It is used in the diagnosis of preterm delivery using biomarkers Insulin Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 N (IGFBP-1 N), Insulin Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 T (IGFBP-1 T) and Intraleukins-6 from vaginal fluid swab.
Usage timings: From 24 weeks of pregnancy to the complete gestation period.
IGFBP-1 N: Biomarker related to mother’s uterine contractions.
IGFBP-1 T: Biomarker related to fetal response to uterine contractions.
IL-6: Biomarker related to inflammation or infection to the baby.
If all the biomarkers are reported positive - they have a chance of getting preterm delivery within 7 to 14 days.
If only one biomarker or no biomarkers are reported positive – they have a chance of getting preterm delivery after 14 days.
